Authorities identify driver, victim in deadly hit-and-run crash in Waipahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A 76-year-old woman critically injured in a hit-and-run crash on Sunday has succumbed to her injuries and died, Honolulu police said on Monday.
She has been identified as Teresita Gaoiran.
The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. Sunday in the area of Farrington Highway and Pahu Street.
According to Honolulu police, a vehicle, driven by a 55-year-old man, was heading eastbound on Farrington Highway and was making a right turn on Pahu Street when it struck the woman, who was walking across the street.
Police said the driver initially stopped and later fled the scene without rendering aid.
The driver, identified as Sione Semisi Manupule, was later arrested for collision involving death or serious bodily injury and driving without a license.
It does not appear that speed, drugs, or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
Anyone with further information is asked to call (808) 723-3413.
This is Oahu’s 38th traffic fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 45 at the same time last year.
The investigation is ongoing.
